Greetings from your new Pastor.
Hi I'm Patrick Barker and I was born in London in 1970 and lived most of my growing up years in Penge near Crystal Palace.
Before becoming a minister my longest full-time job (for 15 years) was as a pastoral care worker in a high school in Worcestershire. I also worked as a carer in a residential care home for two years.
In the summer of 1982 at the age of 11, I asked Jesus to take charge of my life. I remember being so excited that I wanted to tell the World, so I put a red cross on my bike, started telling my friends about Jesus & began a small group with my siblings. I am passionate about God's people being alive and active in God's World today, and living by the two great commandments to love God and all fellow human beings (Luke 10:27-28), and the great commission to make disciples of all peoples (Matthew 28:18-20). I believe that this is the fundamental DNA of the life of a Christian and Christ’s Church.
Knowing much of the rich history of this great town of Tiverton, I am excited to see how God WILL and IS making a difference in the lives of people here. I look forward to sharing in your journey!
I am married to Rachel and we have two boys, Samuel & Oliver. We love the outdoors so where better to live with so many great walks, tors to climb and rivers to kayak! And when we’re not outward bound we enjoy family films, games and food especially when we can share that with new friends.
Hope to see you soon!
